Just Be Yourself

I have a very closed friend who told me that my written english is really bad. And my speaking english just so-so.

Yeah, of course, she told me after reading my blog.

What can i say? I replied.”Yeah, that’s me!”.

It is not that i am proud of my broken english, it is just that i am being myself. The way I write in this blog is the same way that you see me speaking to friends and even in my workshops. You might be asking me now, aint i have to improve myself? I am definitely improving myself each and everyday. I guess those who know me realize this changes.

Just Be Yourself

Just Be Yourself

You must be wondering why i wrote this article. I should’nt be condenming myself and let the whole world know that i am not good right? Well, to me - humility and honesty are very important, especially I am using this blog to express myself to my reader. I am sure you want me to be as direct as possible. This is exactly the same thing that you will expect when you meet up with me or perhaps attending my training workshop.

What i have learnt is when someone told you about your weakness, do the followings:

1. Admit it !

2. Ponder about it and be humble to take up the challenge to CHANGE !

3. Be teachable & Improve it each & everyday !

I have done my part. What about you? Have anyone told you about your weaknesses? Let me be very frank with you, people will normally tell you the RIGHT answer but NOT the TRUE answer!

It’s time to challenge your fellow friends to be TRUE & HONEST with you.

Encourage them to tell you the TRUTH!

Once they open up their heart and tell you - be GRATEFUL as not many are DARE TO STAND UP!

Whatever it is, just relax & have an open mind !

Remember - Just be Yourself!

Dont Read Book - Study it!

How many books you read in a year? How many books do you read in a year?

I know a friend who read 1 book per week and ended up reading 52 books in a year! To me that is fantastic. To be frank, I bought 52 books a year but did not even finish reading them yet (but i am still buying books every now and then).

To me is not so much of finishing the book, it is very much for reference, especially you need to find some important facts / information to support your work / study. Many times, books really help me to get the accurate information - of course no doubt - the internet helps alot too.

I strongly believe we should not just read the book, we got to study the book. Here are some guidelines that i have used when i read book and hope it will be helpful to you too.

1. Write down the expectation that I want to get out of the book.

2. Read the introduction / how to use the book guide / preface / wor from the author - AGAIN & AGAIN till you are familiar with what the book is all about. Many people will jump straight to the topic that they want but i still find that it might not be helpful till we understand exactly what this book is all about (not just the surface but really know what this book want to deliver). This is as important as laying a good foundation in anything we do.

3. Study chapter by chapter and list down the followings along the way you study. I will normally have a note book beside me to jot down things specially for things that i study. These are the things that I will jot down:

A) Action Check List - I will list down what the Author asked me to do and try it out immediately

B) Key Phrases - these are the Word of Wisdoms from the Author. One of my favorite Key Phrases is “HOW YOU DO ANYTHING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING” by T.Harv Eker. Another one is “IT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO, IT IS HOW YOU DO” by Stephen Pierce.

4. Practise it ! Like what Stephen Covey said “TO KNOW AND NOT TO DO, IS REALLY NOT TO KNOW”. I have found one article on Stephen Covey “8th Habit - From Effectiveness to Greatness” and you might want to read it too at http://jmm.aaa.net.au/articles/22369.htm. It is another good book that I recommend.

I hope the above guide will benefit you the next time you read (study) a book.

There is another way that you might want to consider in order to get the full benefits out of a book instead of reading the entire book is to get yourself a BREVITY MEMBERSHIP. I have got mine and it really helps alot.
